Chief Minister Dr K Rosaiah asked the Housing Department to speed up completion of construction of houses for flood victims and see that the affected people occupy the houses at the earliest. He also wanted the Rajiv Swagruha Housing constructions also be put on faster track and the allottees be given the houses for occupation at the earliest. Dr Rosaiah wanted the Housing programme to be made most transparent and asked the Finance Department to release the required funds on priority.

The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of Indiramma Housing, A.P.Housing Board and Rajiv Swagruha schemes with Minister and officials at Secretariat. Dr Rosaiah expressed satisfaction that the number of complaints regarding the Indiramma Housing have come down drastically since last one year. He was informed that while there were 1736 complaints registered during July 2009, it has come down to just 69 complaints during July, 2010. This was because payment for Indiramma Housing is now made through cheques to individual accounts of the beneficiaries though Post Offices and Banks.

The Chief Minister also asked the department to expedite the payment to the completed houses of the four lakh houses construction of which were taken up without proper sanction which are now being verified by the respective district collectors. The Chief Minister also positively responded to the proposal of taking up construction of Rajiv Swagruha Houses through Joint Ventures in one or two towns on a trial basis. However he directed  the Rajiv Swagruha Corporation to see that under any circumstances the cost of the housing should be 25% less than the market rates and quality of houses should be kept on standard.

The Chief Minister was explained that as far as Indiramma Housing  is concerned, month-wise targets have been communicated to all districts. During the financial year up to 25.7.2010, in all 1,68,878 houses have been completed. District Collectors have been requested to issue rejoinders giving details of action taken/initiated whenever adverse news items appear abut the scheme.

Dr Rosaiah was told that as regards to progress of INDIRAMMA Housing as on 25.7.2010, in all 64.06 lakh houses were registered, 31.69 lakh houses were completed and 14.68 lakh houses are under progress. The Action Plan for 2010-11 provides a target of 6,92,000 houses for completion including 2,18,540 houses for SCs/STs. and till 25-7-2010 in all 1,68,878 houses including 83,629 SC/ST houses are completed and expenditure incurred is Rs.598.53 crore.

Houses started without sanction: The State Government have accorded sanction and grant of permission for making payment for the houses started without sanction before general elections 2009. The District Collectors have been requested to send proposals duly following the procedure and eligibility criteria prescribed in the G.O.

The Chief Minister was told that as far as IAY Housing Programme is concerned,  the financial allocation is Rs.1156.97 crores, Physical allocation & sanction - 2,57,104 houses, physical achievement - 70,208 houses and Financial achievement - Rs.428.70 crores.

As far as Flood Housing is concerned, out of the total requirement of 28,280 houses (17,894 in Kurnool District, 8,726 in Mahabubnagar, 1130 in Krishna District and 530 in Guntur District) in all 10,780 houses were grounded. Total colonies identified for relocation are 43 out of which lands were handed over for 37 and work commenced in 35 colonies. Land acquisition is under process for 6 colonies. In Rajole, 2476 houses were registered for relocation and 4.00 cents of land was allotted to each beneficiary .  Rs.1.25 lakh per house with a plinth area of 300 sft. (individual houses) is allotted with State Government contribution of Rs.68,450.
