HYDERABAD: Keeping in view of the consistent performance of the Company and to encourage the employees of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to improve the production and productivity further, the Chief Minister Mr.K.Rosaiah today announced 16% of profit after tax as special incentive to the employees of the Company for 2008-09. The representatives of the recognised Union (Singareni Collieries Workers' Union) met him today.

Dr.G.Vivekanand, MP, Peddapally, Mr.B.Venkat Rao, MLC & INTUC leader, Mr.G.Vinod, former Minister and Mr.M.Suri Babu, INTUC leader, Bellampally, persuaded the Chief Minster on behalf of the Singareni employees to sanction maximum incentive. After deliberations the Chief Minster agreed to sanction 16% incentive. The leaders thanked the Chief Minister.

Mr.Rosaiah has advised the Union delegates to motivate the employees to enhance the productivity and ensure industrial peace. The Union delegates have informed the Chief Minister that the company is likely to surpass the target and produce 50 million tonnes during the current financial year. The SCCL has achieved 44.5 million tonnes during 2008-09 earning Rs.132.83 crores profit (after tax) over the gross turnover of Rs.6,396 crores during 2008-09.

The SCCL is always in forefront of implementing various welfare measures to its employees and paying this special incentive from 1999-2000 onwards, which is not being paid in any of the Public Sector Undertakings in the country. Industrial peace is established in the Company in the recent period, mainly due to transparent Management policies and proactive cooperation and commitment from employees and recognised/representative status Unions. The Union delegates thanked the Chief Minister for the gesture.
